What Books Do You Read?

I want to introduce a book "Quartet detective bureau” by Ekaterina Valmont. It is published in 2009 in Moscow. There are 185 pages in it but it took me 2 days to read the book because the plot is very fascinating. Besides, I’m interested in horror books and love stories.

(Anna Glushen, Form 8”V”)

The book "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” is written by J.K. Rowling, a famous British author. She is a very talented story-teller, and her books are very popular with young readers and grown-ups. The book is made in paperback format but looks very attractive due to a colourful cover. The text is divided into chapters. There are 640 pages in the book and it took me a week to read it.  It is really worth reading and you may enjoy either the language of the narration or the adventurous characters.

My favourite genre is humour. Humorous books help me to be in good mood. One of my favourite books is "The Wrong Pieces of Advice” by Grigoriy Oster. This book consists of short stories in a poetic form. The stories are very instructive though they are written in a humorous way. I enjoyed reading the book very much.

An American Association of Libraries makes a list of books prohibited for teen-agers every year. This year all the 4 books of "The Twilight Saga” by Stephanie Meyer are in this list.

Good Advice

QUESTION: Should I read The DaVinci Code?
ANSWER: If you are firm in your faith, to the point that the book would not cause you to question, doubt, or speculate, and if you can stay focused on the fact that it is a novel and nothing more, then read it.
If you begin reading it and then start questioning reality based on the fiction contained therein, stop reading it.
If you are not firm in your faith, to the point that the book would cause you to question, doubt, or speculate, or if you are the type that would at some point begin thinking, "hey, maybe this stuff is really true and Mary Magdalene really was what it says she was and the Church has been lying to us all these years," then don't read it.
(Father John Matusiak, Orthodox Church, USA)

March, 16:
The exhibition of ancient and contemporary orthodox literature was opened in the local museum. It was devoted to Saint Ivan Fyodorov who printed the book "Apostole”in 1565.
